Víntegris presents nebulaID, its video authentication and remote identification solution with legal probative validity
It complies with the standards of the National Cryptologic Center and the eIDAS¹ regulation, in addition to aligning with the KYC² and SEPBLAC³ regulations
Víntegris will show the new solution during MWC 2022 event
Barcelona, February 22, 2022. Víntegris, a Spanish software manufacturer and Qualified Trust Services Provider (QTSP), in compliance with the eIDAS regulations, will present its nebulaID solution during MWC 2022 event. It is a video authentication and remote identification tool, with Legal Probative Validity. Designed to facilitate the management of all types of procedures, it eliminates the attendance need, without failing to guarantee the total protection of user data and identities, with maximum security and legal compliance.
Digitization and the pandemic have driven remote business relationships in all industries, generating the need to create secure solutions that facilitate remote operations with customers. It is necessary to verify the identity of the users in order to guarantee these transactions and avoid fraud. Video identification allows identity verification in a convenient, fast and secure way.
“Until now, any official procedure required the physical presence of the user. With the pandemic, this changed and a series of provisional measures were established, always following the state of alarm, for example, for the issuance of qualified electronic certificates. Among them, there was remote video identification (videoconferencing) as a fully legal means of digitally obtaining qualified electronic certificates. This solution proved to speed up and boost the procedures and, with the learned lesson, work has been done from a legal point of view so that it can be used permanently”, explains Javier Bustillo, general manager of Víntegris.
After this fruitful period, on May 14, 2021, the Ministerial Order ETD/465/2021 was published, issued on May 6, 2021, by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation of Spain, in which the use of remote video identification was regulated.
Full protection and verification of user data
Remote video identification with nebulaID works both in real-time with the collaboration of an operator from the registration authority, and in unattended mode, and uses different technologies to ensure total reliability in the verification process prior to the issuance of the qualified certificate.
nebulaID incorporates a “facial matching” and “facial biometric scoring” system to compare the applicant’s facial features with their ID photo. It also has “life detection” technology and artificial intelligence to detect biometric presentation attacks (PAD), as well as identity document tampering detection mechanisms and OCR technology for document data collection.
The system also performs automatic verification of the expiration date of the document and the logical relationship between the dates presented, as well as automatic verification of the MRZ (Machine Readable Zone) code of the visual inspection zone and generates a complete audit trail of identification processes to maintain evidence of these in case of legal dispute, for 15 years.
Finally, Víntegris carries out a real-time query to the National Police database to verify the validity and current status of the document and its representative.
“The simplicity of use of nebulaID and the fact that it complies with the highest technical and security standards positions it as the ideal solution for sectors such as banking and financial services, telecommunications companies or to streamline the functions of any corporate Human Resources department since it allows both to establish mechanisms to eliminate fraud, for example in the renewal of SIM cards of mobile phones, and to carry out complete hiring processes remotely, as well as the signing of contracts with total legal validity”, Bustillo continues explaining.
